“Fantasy is hardly an escape from reality. It's a way of understanding it.”

Official Site of Bridget McHugh

This is the website of Bridget C. McHugh, writer of contemporary and adult fantasy. By day, I create assessments for workforce development programs. By night, I’m creating fantasy worlds where privilege and prejudice is entangled with access to magic. My current writing projects are listed on the Works in Progress page. For questions about my writing, please use the contact form at the bottom of each page.

I adore animals. I’m a former cat person because I love petting a ball of fur that wants to do nothing but sit in my lap and receive affection. But I’m married to someone allergic to cats. So I’m a fan of puggles, who are equal parts pug, beagle, and couch potato. The Grade A cuddle machine with me on the right is Mr. Midnight, who crossed the rainbow bridge last year.

I’m a huge Pokemon Go shutterbug. When I’m not writing, I’m taking photos of my favorite shinies, whether it’s snapping pictures of Pikachu in front of national monuments, or just a deerling in a meadow while I’m hiking in a local park. For photos of Pokemon in front of landmarks, or to hear snippets from some of my novels in progress, follow me on Twitter @ bridgetmchugh2 (see the feed below).

  • Graveyard of the Gods

Talia Black thinks she’s finally gotten her fairy tale ending when charming Alexander Pellerton proposes to her. But Alexander is more wolf than Prince Charming, and escaping his reach will be more difficult than Talia can imagine.

  • The Changeling

  • The Lady of the Sea
